Celebrations are a way of life in Latino
communities. Everything is worthy of a
fiesta; the birth of a child, an
anniversary or birthday, an
accomplishment, or just a Saturday
night. The community we have loved for
almost 30 years has taught us many
things. And one of the most endearing is
how to celebrate life.
November
14, from 1:00 PM to 6PM we are having a
big party at The Neighborhood Center. It
is an Open House, featuring the
Grand
Openings of “El Mercado de la Comunidad”
(our new thrift store) and “OpportuniTees”
(a new business at the center). Tours
will be available from 1-4 showcasing
everything that is happening in the
mission from “Mom’s Place” and
“Education for Life” to “Jeremiah
Project and Barrio Works” and of course,
everything in between. And from 4-6
there will be a ribbon cutting and
amazing Mexican BBQ.
December of
2007 we made it public that the Lord was
leading us to begin the completion of
The Neighborhood Center, one building at
a time. Almost two years later, the
building we call “The Enterprise
Building” is open for business …
businesses, I should say. But there’s
more. On that day, we have ANOTHER
surprise for those who have been
following the story of the development
of the center. COME!! We really want to
see you at The Neighborhood
Miracles Tour! It will be a great celebration.
